Description:

A course for CO$TAT, designed for analysts to develop estimating equations and add them to estimates. This course takes the student from raw data to a validated Cost Estimating Relationships (CER). Learn to create high quality, well documented CERs and add them to your ACE session.

  • Gather and understand your data
  • Normalize a data set
  • Format your data into a CO$TAT dataset
  • Run a Univariate analysis
  • Decide what variables drive cost
  • Measure correlation between variables
  • View relationships between potential drivers
  • Run Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) Regression
  • Define and understand errors and residuals
  • Learn when to move beyond OLS
  • Run Weighted Least Squares (WLS)
  • Run Non-Linear Least Squares (NLS)
  • Run Minimum Unbiased Percentage Error (MUPE)
  • Create a learning curve
  • Use the Distribution Finder
  • Generate analysis reports
  • Review outlier analysis
  • Assess the quality of a CER
  • Compare the results of various CERs
  • Generate a prediction interval
  • Document the CER
  • Export the CER to ACE

Successful students should already have a working knowledge of statistics. This course focuses on how to use ACEIT and does not teach underlying cost estimating principles.

  1. Module 1: CO$TAT Dataset
